Protecting the Industry

The minerals industry provides the nation with minerals that are essential to supply chains that keep America running. From household products to vehicles to our national defense – the United States depends on the industry. The strategic importance of mining also leaves us vulnerable to bad actors, especially in realm of cybersecurity. EMA works with the Department of Homeland Security to keep member companies safe from attack.

Critical Manufacturing Sector Coordinating Council

DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) identified critical infrastructure sectors whose assets, systems, and networks are considered vital to national security. EMA is an associate member of CISA’s Critical Manufacturing Sector Coordinating Council and is a representative voice for the minerals sector. The coordinating council provides the industry with resources and alerts to active threats targeting the industry.
