Arlington, VA, May 30, 2023 – The Essential Minerals Association (EMA) today welcomed Jenny Martin to the staff as Associate Vice President of Communications and External Affairs, where she will develop and implement strategic communication plans for the industry.

“We are excited to add Jenny to our team as she brings a wealth of experience in helping trade associations communicate a broad range of issues and initiatives,” said EMA President Chris Greissing. “As we continue to communicate the value of essential minerals in our daily lives, Jenny’s expertise will be an invaluable asset to our team and to the industry.”

In 2022, EMA rebranded from the Industrial Minerals Association – North America to better position the industry as the provider of raw materials used in products that are essential to the public’s daily lives. Without these minerals it would be impossible to have our cell phones, cars, computers, makeup, glass, or virtually any other item you’ve grown accustomed to using. These minerals are also an essential element to the agricultural and energy sectors (both traditional and green). The creation of this new communications role highlights EMA’s commitment to advancing the industry in the face of a changing public and political landscape.

For the past 18 years, Jenny has worked in various roles in agricultural communications. Prior to her current role, she held the position of Senior Director of Communications at the Sugar Association, where she led all strategic communications and public relations activities, including implementing digital campaigns and launching the first annual National Real Sugar Day. She also served as the Director of Strategic Communications at The Fertilizer Institute where she managed communications for the association’s stewardship and sustainability strategic initiatives. Additionally, Jenny managed communications efforts at the International Food Information Council and served in federal government roles at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, communicating the benefits of federally funded agricultural research.

Jenny earned a BA in Journalism from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. She grew up on a small farm in Iowa and is still very loyal to her Iowa State Cyclones. She currently lives in Washington, DC.
